Horní Bradlo: Hotels and Accommodation

Horní Bradlo is located in the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. One of the village’s defining buildings is the filial chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in the Neo-Gothic style between 1892 and 1894 and containing the family crypt of the Rükl family.

Culture

The slender windows of the chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and its eastern rose window contain stained glass. The chapel is a cultural monument and a distinctive landmark of Horní Bradlo.

The former Vilemínina huť glassworks, named in honour of Princess Vilemí­na Auerspergová, is part of the village’s historical heritage. Tours for schools, kindergartens, groups and families are offered on its premises. Vánoční Království in Horní Bradlo also features an exhibition of rocking horses and retro toys.

Nature and Surroundings

The Polom Nature Reserve, also known as Polom Primeval Forest, is located in the cadastral area of Horní Bradlo. The place name Horní Bradlo derives from an independent rock or rocky cliff, referred to in geology as a bradlo.

Mount Bučina is located in the surroundings of Horní Bradlo. Nearby are the hill of U Rozkuska [Rušinov-Vratkov] and Spálava Hill. In the wider regional surroundings of Horní Bradlo are the Church of Svatý Jiří and Mount Krkanka.

On the Way

The green-marked hiking trail that previously ran through the Polom Nature Reserve was rerouted outside the protected area in May 2023 for hikers’ safety.

The central Via Czechia hiking trail passes through Horní Bradlo; there is a shelter, a restaurant, a grocery store and a bus connection there.
