The Anenské údolí Nature Reserve extends through the valley of the Anenský stream between Štěpánov, Přibylov, Nová Ves and Hroubovice, north of Skuteč. Anenské údolí is a European Site of Community Importance protected under the Natura 2000 network, with the Natura 2000 code CZ0534051.

The protected habitats in Anenské údolí include ash- and alder-rich alluvial forests, dry calcareous grasslands, extensively mown meadows ranging from lowlands to foothills, and habitats of the dusky large blue butterfly. Amphibians, reptiles and butterflies have been recorded in Anenské údolí, including fire salamanders, grass snakes and dusky large blue butterflies.

Culture and History

The Jewish cemetery in Hroubovice was established around the middle of the 18th century and expanded in the middle of the 19th century. It belongs to the group of East Bohemian Jewish cemeteries featuring distinctive gravestone symbolism on steles dating from the late 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. Around 250 gravestones dating from 1788 to 1966 have been preserved in the cemetery.

The Jewish cemetery in Hroubovice is locked; the key can be borrowed from the Hroubovice municipal office.

On 11 December 2017, a Holocaust memorial was unveiled and a memorial park opened at the site of the demolished synagogue in Hroubovice. The Hroubovice Holocaust memorial names 39 Jewish residents who were deported to Theresienstadt in November 1942 and subsequently to Auschwitz. It stands in a small park by the Anenský stream between house numbers 22 and 123.
