Orel: Hotels and accommodations
To the north of Orel rises the Tři Bubny hill. At the intersection of the Chrudim–Řestoky–Chrast and Kunčí–Orel–Kočí roads lie the church and houses of Tři Bubny.
Culture and history
The Gothic cemetery church of St. George stands on Tři Bubny hill at an elevation of 302 m. The church is first mentioned in 1349 in a document issued by the first Archbishop of Prague, Arnošt of Pardubice. Inside are 15 stone epitaphs commemorating deceased members of the families who owned the Orel estate.
The fortifications are also part of the history of the area: the eastern section of the Tři Bubny earthworks was declared a natural and historical monument in 1923. Only slight terrain elevations remain from the former Orel fortress on a circular hill more than 30 m wide; apart from the northern side, it was surrounded by a moat.
The statue of Our Lady of Victory in Orel is a Baroque sculpture from the 18th century. A copy of the statue returned to the center of Orel in 2025. A granite monument in Orel bears the names of 16 residents who did not return from the First World War.
