Tri Bubny: Hotels and Accommodation

On the northern side of the municipality rises the hill of Tři Bubny. From there, the Gothic cemetery church of St. George overlooks the surroundings from an elevation of 302 m above sea level.

Culture and History

The Church of St. George was first mentioned in written records in 1349. The fortifications of Tři Bubny were built in 1778 to defend the settlement and the church on the hill against Prussian troops. The surviving eastern part of the fortifications of Tři Bubny was declared a natural and historic monument in 1923.

The name Tři Bubny originally referred to an inn. The name Tři Bubny is recorded on Müller’s map of the Kingdom of Bohemia from 1720.

A partially preserved bastion remnant from the field fortifications near Tři Bubny lies about 500 m south-southwest of the Church of St. George. It is located west of Road III/3583 to Orel and is completely hidden by dense vegetation. Tři Bubny is listed as a significant archaeological site in the ÚAN I category.

The road was later called the “French Road” because Russian and French troops travelled along it during the Napoleonic Wars.

Cycle Routes

The signposted cycle route 4177 runs through Tři Bubny between Kočí and Orel. The signposted cycle route 4181 between Libanice and Vlčnov also runs through Tři Bubny.
