Skuteč: Hotels and accommodation

Skuteč preserves the composer’s surviving study at the Památník V. Nováka, a music room with a piano, and a museum room about his life and work, with a particular connection to Skuteč. The Regionální muzeum Skuteč is partially accessible to visitors with disabilities.

Culture

The church of Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie has a Renaissance sandstone pulpit dating from 1560 to 1570 and a tin baptismal font from 1318. The presbytery contains fragments of wall paintings from the early 16th century. Kostel Božího těla is a single-nave Gothic church built in 1391.

The Mariánský sloup depicts statues of Saint Wenceslas, Saint Joseph, Saint Florian and Saint Ludmila; at the centre stands an Immaculata on a globe. Zvěřinův dům is a late Gothic burgher house with a stone portal from the first half of the 16th century and is probably the oldest house in Skuteč.

The Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého is a sandstone statue from 1747. It is located in a niche of house no. 43 on V. Nováka Street. The Rodný dům V. J. Tomáška has served as a permanent memorial to V. J. Tomášek since 2000.

Nature

The Žulová stezka Horkami is a 4.5-kilometre educational trail with 17 stops in the area around Skuteč, passing abandoned or flooded granite quarries. The route includes historic facilities from quarrying operations, educational and play elements, as well as rest areas. It also includes videos and augmented-reality applications.

Music

The Tomáškova a Novákova hudební Skuteč was held for the 21st time. It includes a two-month programme of concerts and performances in Skuteč and the surrounding area.
