Zaječice: Hotels and Accommodation

On the western gable of building no. 64 in Zaječice, remnants of late Gothic window surrounds from the former fortress have been preserved. The fortress in house no. 64 in Zaječice is registered as an immovable cultural monument.

Culture and History

Zaječice is also home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, registered as an immovable cultural monument. A prehistoric urn from Zaječice has been dated to the beginning of our era; a copy is located in the town museum in Chrast near Chrudim. A large molar of a herbivore, discovered in the Vinice district, is kept in the museum in Chrast.

Landscape

The Ležák stream flows through Zaječice. Two small ponds lie along the course of the Ležák in the southern part of Zaječice. The Zaječický Forest stretches across the surrounding area south of Zaječice, while Zaječice itself lies in the foothills of the Železné hory. In the Studená Voda–Bítovánky area, impressions of shells of marine animals can be found in a field by the forest.

Transport and Trails

Zaječice railway station is part of an integrated transport system. A signposted local cycle route runs through Zaječice. A blue-marked hiking trail begins at the local Zaječice railway station. The blue-marked hiking route leads via Žumberk and past the Ležáky memorial site to Hlinsko.
