Culture and History

A Roman Catholic chapel dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Navštívení Panny Marie) was built in Kostěnice. The Navštívení Panny Marie Chapel was consecrated on October 3, 1909. Since its consecration, the local pilgrimage has been celebrated in Kostěnice on the first Sunday in July.

Local heritage includes a memorial to the victims of the First World War, commemorating 24 war dead from 1914 to 1918, as well as a war grave in the form of a cenotaph. It commemorates Karel Valter, who fell near Berje in the Littoral (Přímoří) on May 28, 1917. The Church of Svatý Jiří is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Kostěnice.

Fishing is permitted at two local ponds in Kostěnice, the upper and lower ponds, with a local permit issued by the municipal administration. Fishing competitions for children and adults are held every year at the lower pond.
