Urbanice combines a setting characterized by forests and ponds with a marked cycling route and a multifaceted local history. Among the forests and ponds in the foothills of the Železné hory, forests cover nearly two-thirds of Urbanice’s cadastral area.

Marked cycling route No. 4129 passes through Urbanice in the direction of Choltice and Jetonice. Within the municipality, it runs along local roads and partly along a Class III road. The cycling route is frequently used, especially during the summer months.

History and Local Life

After 1467, the fortress located in Urbanice gradually began to fall into disrepair because its owner did not live there due to his many other estates.

Historical and recurring events are also part of local life. In the 19th century, Urbanice traditionally hosted the “otvírání studánek” festival, featuring a procession of young people to “Konárecká.” Volleyball has been a tradition in Urbanice for more than fifty years. A competitive afternoon for children called “Rozloučení s prázdninami” is also held every year; in winter, the “Mikulášská nadílka” event takes place.
