Sezemice Nad Loučnou: Hotels and Accommodation

In Sezemice nad Loučnou, the Church of the Most Holy Trinity is one of the oldest and most important monuments in the region. Its oldest brick masonry dates back to the first half of the 13th century; the octagonal bell tower in Sezemice is unique in Bohemia in this form and size.

Culture and History

The oldest surviving residential building is House No. 92 on Husovo náměstí, with an 18th-century gable in the peasant Baroque style. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary at the cemetery was built in 1902 at the highest point in Sezemice.

Nature

The nearby Velký semínský aqueduct was built in 1892 as part of the Pardubice pond system. In the surroundings of the aqueduct, at the confluence of the Zadní Lodrantka and Loučná rivers, along the cycle path beside the Loučná, and on the banks of the Loučná, tourist information boards were installed in 2014. They provide information about the surrounding nature, the history of the aqueduct, and the town's sights.

Mlynářova louka near the former mill lies between the Loučná watercourse and the millrace and is considered a natural oasis of peace. Within the territory of the town of Sezemice, near the village of Veská, lies the Vesecký kopec natural monument at an elevation of 238 m above sea level. It is known as the “largest sand dune in the Czech Republic” and is home to several protected beetle species.

Paths and Activities

From Sezemice, easy hikes and cycling trips are possible on newly built paths and cycle paths. In the centre of Sezemice, between the Loučná and its millrace, Mlýnský potok, the Mlynářka sports and recreation park was created.

Mlynářka Park has paved paths, benches, waste bins, and partial public lighting. There is also an outdoor fitness and parkour area with a tartan surface. When temperatures fall below freezing, a natural ice rink is created in part of Mlynářka Park near the millrace, and it is used by skaters of all ages.
