Turkovice is situated on the ridge of the Železné hory.

Culture and history

The Church of St. Martin in Turkovice is an Early Gothic building and was probably constructed in the 13th century. It was first mentioned in 1348. It stands on the present-day cemetery at the southeastern edge of Turkovice. The cemetery includes a chapel of the Pachtů z Rájova family, as well as gravestones in the retaining wall.

The parish observation platform in Turkovice offers views across the Kolín Basin, as well as over Kutná Hora and Čáslav as far as Golčův Jeníkov. Playing various musical instruments remains a tradition in Turkovice to this day. Various sports and cultural events are also held regularly.
