Rudná: Hotels and accommodations

A marked red hiking trail runs through Rudná from Březová nad Svitavou railway station via Rudná to Hřebeč. The 19.14-kilometre route is moderately difficult.

Nature and trails

The long-distance Českomoravská stezka trail runs along the high-altitude Hřebečovský hřbet ridge to Rudná, then descends into the Svitava Valley.

History and culture

Horní Rudná is first mentioned in a Latin document dated 17 January 1365, which was entered in the Moravian land registers in Brno. The oldest surviving name for Rudná is Ruden; it is derived from “rudka”, red clay.

The historic fire station in Dolní Rudná was built in 1925 and is one of the sights of the municipality of Rudná.

There is a cross by the Chapel of Saint John and Saint Paul in Rudná. The chapel in Dolní Rudná, traditionally dedicated to Saint John and Saint Paul, is adorned with seven 19th-century memorial crosses bearing the names of their donors.

Leisure and water

On the outskirts of Rudná, in the direction of the source of the Chrastovský potok stream, there is a multifunctional children’s playground in a park-like area with benches.

Rudná has a football sports complex that was used mainly for young people’s sporting activities in summer. Children’s days were held there, and football and volleyball were also played.

There is a fire reservoir along the Chrastovský potok stream, which is also used as an ice-skating rink and an outdoor swimming pool.

Transport

Rudná is served exclusively by bus services.
