Merklín: Hotels and Accommodation

The historic buildings include the Bijadla Barn: it is a Baroque barn within a farmyard outside Merklín. The original Gothic structure and later Classicist alterations are still visible; the building was converted from a church into a manorial barn. The former church in Bijadla, dedicated to Saint Lawrence, was first documented in writing in 1369.

When it was first mentioned in writing in 1356, Merklín was already a small town with a parish church and fortress. The Church of Saint Nicholas was extensively rebuilt at the end of the 17th century. A Baroque vicarage was built as part of its complex in 1712; the statue of Saint Florian in this complex dates from 1765.

The Merklín château complex is a characteristic example of a rural feudal manor. It comprises the château buildings, an extensive farmyard, a park, château cellars and a large stone barn.

The Merklínský rybník pond lies southeast of Merklín and covers 35 hectares. The green-marked hiking trail 1430 leads around the pond from Roupov to Staňkov and continues onward.

The Bijadla educational trail was established on the grounds of a former agricultural cooperative in the historic Bijadla settlement area of Merklín near Přeštice. At Bijadla, wild animals native to the local natural environment can be observed in outdoor enclosures, including deer, fallow deer, mouflon, wild boar, pheasants, ducks and wild rabbits.

Cycling route CT 3 passes through Merklín on the route from Prague to Kdyně and continues towards Regensburg and Munich.

Merklín has no railway station, and no railway line runs in the immediate vicinity either. By bus, you can travel to Přeštice, Stod or Staňkov, where you can connect to train services.
