Bolkov combines local history, rural landscapes, and events organized by local associations.

History

The first written mention of Bolkov dates back to 1379. Historical records describe Bolkov as an abandoned village in 1546. The settlement was probably not resettled until the end of the 17th century.

The digitized municipal chronicle of Bolkov is accessible via Porta fontium.

The Biřkovský stream flows through part of Bolkov and its cadastral area. The coat of arms of Bolkov combines the local flora with a beautiful rural landscape of forests, meadows, and fields.

Culture

The chapel in Bolkov is a Neo-Gothic building in the middle of the village square and was built in 1886. It contains a statue of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child.

Events organized by local associations in Bolkov include “Poslední leč,” the “Myslivecký den pro děti,” a hunting day for children, as well as the “Západočeská liga” in fire sport. The “Dětský den,” a day for children, is also held at the Bolkov Cultural Center.
