Culture and History

In the cadastral area of Krotějov stands the Rural House No. 6 in Spíži. The building is protected as a cultural monument, preserves numerous historically valuable original structural elements and craft details, and is a well-preserved example of traditional folk architecture in the foothills of the Šumava.

The history of the local estate dates back to 1392: at that time, the knight Bušek z Opálky acquired the Krotějov estate from the Vladiken Přestav. The name Krotějov is derived from the founder of the local estate, the Vladiken Krotěj (also Kratěj).

Nature

The Krotějov Lime Tree, a small-leaved lime and an important protected memorial tree, stands on the village green in Krotějov. The lime tree is more than 400 years old.

Hiking and Cycling

Krotějov can be reached on foot via lightly trafficked local roads around the hamlet of Cihelna below Zahorčice. The access route to Krotějov is also suitable for bicycles.

A marked red long-distance hiking route runs via Klatovy, Lehom, Strážov, Krotějov and Děpoltice, continuing to Prenet, Můstek, Pancíř and Špičák.

Marked cycling route 2035 runs via Lehom, Klenová, Janovice nad Úhlavou, Opálka, Strážov, Zahorčice, Krotějov and Děpoltice and is part of the cycling network in the Strážov area.
