The first written mention of Zvíkov dates back to 1371. There is a historic chapel in Zvíkov. The chapel “Kaplička ve Zvíkově” is located in the Chodeč-Zvíkov cadastral area; Zvíkov is listed as the nearest settlement. It is the only chapel in the entire Chodeč-Zvíkov cadastral area. In addition, a winter lime tree with a split trunk, designated as a natural monument, stands on the village green of Zvíkov; it is located near the historic chapel.

Culture

Guardhouse No. 18 in Chodeč-Zvíkov was built between 1826 and 1832. It served as the residence and duty station of the watchman responsible for the adjacent railway section. This railway section was built in 1825–1826. One section of the railway is assigned to the municipality of Zvíkov and the Chodeč-Zvíkov cadastral area. Boundary stones in varying states of preservation have been retained along the section.

A cultural event for the traditional erection of the maypole took place in Zvíkov on 30 April 2013.

Nature

In Poluška Nature Park, among whose settlements Zvíkov is included, the landscape is characterised by almost untouched forest ecosystems, meadows, field margins and copses, as well as preserved traditional rural architecture.
