Townscape

The oldest farmstead in Mírkovice is House No. 1, known as Řehoutovec. This farmstead includes a preserved barn. Řehoutovec is remarkable because of its construction and is reminiscent of an old fortress.

Farmstead No. 16 in Mírkovice formerly also included an inn. In 1834, it was transferred to Anton Soukup, who is described as the great-grandfather of Egon Schiele.

History

The origins of Mírkovice are presumably dated to the second half of the 13th century, around 1300. The well-known Golden Path from the Alps to Prachatice also passed through Přídolí. There, it divided in the direction of České Budějovice and then ran through Zahrádka, Chabičovice, Svachova Lhotka, and Černiče.

Landscape

The medieval gold-mining area near Mírkovice includes boundary stones with carved crosses that marked individual mining areas. The tailings field near Mírkovice extends over approximately 200 × 200 meters and is the largest in the immediate vicinity. Gold-bearing tailings are found along the entire course of the Jílecký potok, formerly referred to as the “golden stream”.

In the lower part of Mírkovice, there is a sports field for small-sided football and volleyball, with seating by a fire pit. In Svachova Lhotka, you will find the 18-hole Golf Club Český Krumlov course, also known as Svachovka; the village is in the immediate vicinity of Český Krumlov.
