Culture and history
Báňovice was first mentioned in a document in 1327. In front of the school in Báňovice stands a granite stone wayside marker, probably dating from the late 17th century.
In 1946, a stone monument was erected in Báňovice to mark the 50th anniversary of the school. It commemorates the headmaster Zdeněk Papoušek. Zdeněk Papoušek worked as a headmaster in Báňovice and was murdered by fascists in a concentration camp in Kassel.

Landscape
At 571 metres, Větrník is the highest point in Báňovice. Today, only slight relief traces in the form of raised terrain are visible at the Větrník castle ruins. A military observation tower once stood on Větrník.
Remains of former mining pits have been preserved in the Jalovčí forest. Zámecký kopec is associated with the belief that a treasure is hidden there.
