Gutwasser: Hotels and Accommodation

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows was built from 1733 to 1735 according to a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. Due to the high quality of its painted and stucco decoration, it is one of the outstanding examples of Baroque architecture in South Bohemia.

Culture

The Stations of the Cross, including a Holy Sepulchre, lead around the church. The chapels of the Stations of the Cross were built between 1837 and 1839. The original Stations of the Cross paintings were replaced in 1996 by new works by the academic painter Renata Štolbová.

The chapel above the spring has had its present form since 1830. The healing effects of the water from Dobrá Voda were recognised at an early stage.

History

Since the mid-16th century, the historic mining area of Dobrá Voda was associated with the extraction of quartz containing predominantly pyrite and arsenopyrite, as well as native gold. The ore deposits influenced the composition of the water emerging from the rocks in the Dobrá Voda area.

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows can be visited all year round. The event “Tóny Dobré Vody” was scheduled to take place on 6 October 2024 in the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Dobrá Voda u Českých Budějovic.
