Nature

The Metelský potok stream is 7.7 kilometres long and flows into the Lomnice in the municipality of Předmíř. The Štěrbina and Nad Moráskem mountains are also located in the vicinity of Metly. In the wider surrounding region are the Vinice and Praha mountains.

Routes

A cycle route leads from Metly via Březí northwards to Hvožďany. An asphalt connection also runs through the cadastral area of Metly to the boundaries of the neighbouring cadastral areas of Starý Smolivec and Pozdyně. The 32.2-kilometre circular route “Pod Štědrým” passes through Metly.

Culture and History

Metly is home to the wayside shrine “Boží muka v Metlech u Metelského potoka”. The village is also home to the “Metelský, Sudů, Pečených mlýn” mill, which is documented with certainty from 1542 onwards.
