Milevsko: Hotels and accommodation

Milevsko Monastery was founded in 1187 and is considered the oldest monastery in South Bohemia. The “Sakrální stavby” tour is available for visitors and also includes the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (bazilika Navštívení Panny Marie).

Culture

On the ground floor of the Milevské Museum, an exhibition presents evidence of the history of the town and, in part, the monastery from the 16th century to the mid-20th century. The archaeological exhibition presents finds that originate predominantly from the area around Milevsko.

Galerie M provides rooms for art exhibitions, events and programmes for small groups of visitors. It is located in a historic Baroque building dating from the end of the 17th century, in which contemporary architectural elements have been preserved. The main building of the former old town hall, including the grounds, is a protected heritage site. The cemetery Church of St. Giles (Hřbitovní kostel sv. Jiljí), which is an immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic, is also part of the town’s cultural heritage.

Landscape

The Milevský vyhlídkový okruh is 19 km long and leads through the surroundings of Milevsko, over hills and meadows, past ponds and through forests. Hůrka Hill offers a view of Milevsko Monastery.

The “Život na Hůreckém lesíku” educational and adventure trail provides information about nature. The Stations of the Cross (Křížová cesta) offers views of the monastery, the town of Milevsko and its surroundings.

Visitor information

The Milevské koupaliště outdoor swimming pool has two pools measuring 25 × 12 m and 21.5 × 7.5 m, as well as a paddling pool measuring 5 × 3 m.
