Strýčice is home to the Church of St. Peter and Paul, which features valuable early Gothic murals from the first half of the 14th century. Originally built as a Romanesque structure in the 13th century, the church has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. A late Gothic bell dating from 1585 has also been preserved. The murals are among the most significant discoveries of medieval wall paintings in the Czech Republic in the last decade.

Culture

Another special feature of the village is the Strýčice School Museum. The ethnographic museum offers several hundred exhibits to view and try out by prior appointment. Using historical objects, it documents everyday rural life in earlier times. The collection includes household furnishings from farm households, agricultural and fishing equipment, school supplies, and original equipment for filling beer from barrels into bottles.

History

The local history also includes the Reitinger Mill. It was built between 1843 and 1845 and remained in operation under its last miller, Reitinger, until 1975.

Strýčice was the center of a German-speaking language enclave in the otherwise predominantly Czech-speaking Netolicko area. German family names can still frequently be found on the gravestones in the local cemetery.
