Tabor: Hotels and Accommodations

The Husitské Museum is located in the building of the Old Town Hall on Žižkovo náměstí in Tábor. Its underground tour route is approximately 500 metres long and includes five stations with explanations of how the cellars were used. The Gothic Town Hall Hall measures 300 m² and is the second-largest Gothic hall of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Culture and History

The 25-metre-high Kotnov Tower is open as a lookout tower and can be reached via 155 steps. The Klokoty pilgrimage church complex was founded around 1700 on the site of a former Gothic church; the church was completed in 1714. The Klokoty pilgrimage complex is designated a national cultural monument. It will be closed to the public from 8 April 2026 to 31 December 2027 due to extensive reconstruction.

The Křížem krážem Klokoty educational trail provides information on ten panels about the history and natural features of Klokoty, including the pre-Hussite history of the locality.

Paths and Landscape

The Stříbrná educational trail runs along the Tábor–Horky–Větrovy route and focuses on the region’s long mining history. It is 3,500 m long, has eight stations, and can be reached by MHD lines 30, 60 and 61.

The Lužnice Valley Trail is 55 km long and is divided into four daily stages. It leads through the deep valley of the Lužnice along the historic towns of Tábor and Bechyně.

Nature

Pintovka Forest Park includes a forest fitness area with seven stations and a wildlife area.

ZOO Tábor is home to almost 500 animals and its primary mission is the protection of endangered animal species. It keeps 80 animal species, half of which are endangered, and runs a project to reintroduce the European bison into European nature reserves.

Orientation

The Tábor Tourist Information Centre provides information about the city’s history, sights, interesting destinations in the surrounding area and opportunities for active recreation.

Regular service on František Křižík’s Electric Railway, the “Elinka”, began in 1903.

Táborská setkání is associated with September in Tábor, and Táborské Vánoce with December.
