Culture and History
The Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Větřní was built between 1936 and 1938. It has a basilica floor plan with a central nave and two side aisles. Its tower transitions from a square to an octagonal shape. The Chapel at the Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Větřní was reconstructed in 2008.
The Church of St. John the Baptist in Zátoň was built after 1490 on older foundations. It is a broad single-nave church with a pentagonal presbytery.
The historic buildings also include the late-Renaissance one-story fortress in Větřní, which was first mentioned in 1347. It was rebuilt during the late Renaissance and converted into a school in 1892.
The history of industry is also associated with a specific place: in 1867, Ignác Spiro purchased the Pečkovský mlýn grain mill on the road from Český Krumlov to Rožmberk and established a wood-grinding mill there. He subsequently began gradually relocating production there from the paper mill in Český Krumlov.
Water and Movement
The Venkovní koupaliště Větřní is an outdoor swimming pool with a slide and an opportunity to cool off. A hydraulic device enables people with disabilities to enter the water. The sauna at the Bazén a sauna Větřní center has two cabins and a plunge pool.
On the Vltava, the Branná–Nové Spolí section passes the Jez Větřní–Pečkovský mlýn weir at river kilometer 30.1.
A cycling loop leads after the railway crossing to the paper mill on the outskirts of Větřní, crossing a bridge to the right bank of the Vltava and then following a flat cycle path along the river to Český Krumlov. The regional Českokrumlovsko cycling loop also passes through Větřní. Papírny Větřní (JIP) was one of the largest paper mills in the Czech Republic.
