Culture and History

The Baroque monastery pharmacy is displayed in the former kitchen and includes more than 1,000 apothecary vessels, laboratory glassware, and herbal medicines. The Zlatokorunská Madonna was painted between 1410 and 1420 and was probably commissioned directly for the Cistercian monastery in Zlatá Koruna.

The historic center of Zlatá Koruna is also a protected heritage zone. In the wider regional surroundings of Zlatá Koruna lies Chlumany, an ancient site.

Nature and Landscape

In the monastery's main courtyard, next to the Chapel of the Guardian Angels, stands the nearly 30-meter-high Kapucínka linden tree; its age is estimated at 400 years. The entire cadastral area of Zlatá Koruna belongs to the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area.

The Ve vrchu hill [Dolní Třebonín-Záluží] is located in the immediate surroundings of Zlatá Koruna. Mount Kleť and Skalka Mountain are located in the vicinity of Zlatá Koruna. Břevniště Mountain lies in the wider regional surroundings of Zlatá Koruna.

Water and Trails

The historic weir and a small hydroelectric power station still exist near Zlatá Koruna; canoeists and rafters use the lock. The three-kilometer-long artificial Jordánek Canal still exists today.

The Fritsch Trail runs along the left bank of the Vltava and offers views of the river and landscape before reaching Zlatá Koruna. The final seven-kilometer section of the Fritsch Trail ends in Zlatá Koruna.
