Vícemil combines a long local history with distinctive landscape and cultural features. East of the village is an important viewpoint offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and Deštná.
When planning your stay in Vícemil, you can also decide whether you would like to book a hotel.
Landscape
The area west of Vícemil is designated as a landscape area of value with aesthetic significance. This value is based on the harmony between natural and urban-planning features. The surroundings of the viewpoint to the east are intended to remain open, undeveloped and free of forest so that the view and unobstructed horizon are preserved.
Culture and History
Vícemil was first mentioned in 1378. A document from 1418 allowed the inhabitants of Deštná and Vícemil to freely inherit and sell their property. In 1597, the Kapinošovský Court and its associated sheepfold were mentioned in Vícemil.
The village chapel of Vícemil is designated as a significant architectural landmark. The wayside shrines in the open countryside around Vícemil are considered to be of cultural and architectural value. East of Vícemil stands a rectangular stone niche chapel with an image of Jesus Christ; the chapel to the east is well preserved.
Several crosses also form part of the local landscape. The stone cross near Vícemil is three metres high and bears depictions of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. On the road towards Deštná, there is a cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal depicting the crucified Jesus. On the outskirts of Vícemil towards Chotěmice, there is another cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal with depictions of Christ and the Virgin Mary.
Cycling Routes and Surroundings
An existing cycle route runs through the Vícemil area. There are also numerous marked cycling routes in the surroundings of the village. Vícemil also has a sports field. The notable architectural heritage of the surrounding area includes Červená Lhota Chateau.
