Jilem: Hotels and Accommodation

Jilem lies in the northeastern part of the Jindřichohradecká pahorkatina upland. The village and its surroundings combine preserved evidence of local history with distinctive landscape features and events.

Culture and History

A historic barn is located at house no. 13. The Jilem memorial to those killed in the First World War dates from 1921. The history of local agriculture has also been preserved: an agricultural distillery was founded in Jilem in 1880. After it was dissolved in 1883, an agricultural cooperative distillery was established there in 1902.

Wayside shrines can be found around Jilem. The Trojmezí monument stands at the boundary of the municipalities of Jilem, Horní Němčice and Horní Meziříčko. Local customs include Jilemský masopust, a tradition featuring colourful masks and music.

Landscape

The immediate surroundings of Jilem include Kalcův vrch, Babí hora and Za Vrškem, each of them a hill. Zadní Radlický vrch, also a hill, is located in the surrounding area. Historic destinations in this area include Roštejn [Doupě], a castle, and Janštejn, a ruin. Landštejn, a castle, lies farther away in the wider region. The Church of Svatý Ondřej is also located nearby.

Activities and Events

The tennis court in Jilem is also open to the general public and operates from spring to autumn. In Jilem, New Year's hikes to Trojmezí took place in 2023, 2024 and 2026.

Jilemská Galuska took place for the 30th time on 23 May 2026. The cycling trip Jilemské galusky is also associated with Jilem.

Getting Around

Road I/23 runs through Jilem and divides the village into two parts. The nearest railway stop is Stojčín, 10 km from Jilem. If you would like to stay overnight in Jilem, you can search for a hotel in the village.
