Kirchschlag: In Světlík, the Church of Saint James the Elder has been documented since 1258. It was burned down in 1423 and restored in the mid-15th century, expanded in 1663, and demolished and rebuilt in 1872. Only the lower part of the tower remains from the original structure.

Culture and History

The church complex of Saint James the Elder in Světlík includes an 18th-century two-story rectory. Near the rectory stands the niche chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, a plastered masonry chapel dating from the mid-18th century.

The Boží muka wayside shrine from 1665 stands on the road to Frymburk. The wayside cross, or Boží muka wayside shrine, in Světlík stands slightly offset by the steps leading to the cemetery and displays recognizable Late Gothic forms. The wayside shrine located at the cemetery bears carved depictions of the Christogram IHS and the Arma Christi with a cross and nails, as well as the presumed initials of the donor and the year 1665.

The ruin of Pasovary Fortress in Pasovary near Světlík has been protected as a historic monument since 1958. The fortress retains a two-story prismatic tower, stone window and door surrounds, corbels, and cellars of the Gothic and Renaissance palaces. The 14th-century Gothic fortress stands on the site of the vanished village of Pasovary in the hilly landscape of Pošumaví, approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Český Krumlov.

Pasovarské tvrzení is an annual charity event with music held on the second Saturday in August. It features live music and a guided tour with commentary on the history of Pasovary; voluntary contributions can be made toward the restoration of the fortress.

A stone well stands in the village square of Světlík. It was allegedly hidden underground for 80 years; today, water flows in it again.

Paths and Landscape

The South Bohemian Way of St. James is marked in the terrain with scallop-shell symbols and leads to the Church of Saint James in Světlík. The section from Světlík to Frymburk is 11 kilometers long.

The cycling tour “Po méně známých místech Českokrumlovska” follows a cycle path uphill along a stream to Světlík. Světlík is a hub for numerous cycling routes. From Světlík, there is also an approximately 6-kilometer round-trip walk to the ruin of Pasovary Fortress.

Horseback rides through the surrounding countryside are possible from Pasovary by arrangement.
