Nature and Geology

The boundary of the Moravský kras Protected Landscape Area runs through Šošůvka. The protected karst area of the Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně caves in the Devonian limestones of the northern Moravský kras protects cave systems such as the Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně and Kůlna, the swallow holes of the Sloupský potok stream, other karst phenomena, paleontological sites, and the associated cave, rock, and forest communities. The protected area of the Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně caves covers the cadastral territories of Sloup v Moravském krasu and Šošůvka.

The Na Bradinách geological site is freely accessible; by car, it can be reached to within 250 m. The disused limestone quarry there exposes light-gray, massive Vilémovice limestones of the Macocha Formation. A torso of a round lime kiln near Šošůvka at this disused limestone quarry documents the former mining activity in the surrounding area.
