Svitávka: Hotels and Accommodation

Svitávka is located on the Brno–Česká Třebová corridor railway line. The parish Church of St. John the Baptist is a Baroque building dating from 1703. Hradisko, a wooded hill above the confluence of the Svitava and the Semíč stream, lies directly above Svitávka.

Culture

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the square in Svitávka. It is a cultural monument and a distinctive landmark of the square. The Svitávka Museum was established in the Löw-Beer estate. It documents the history of the Svitávka area from the Permian period through medieval settlement to the present day. The exhibition includes films about the history of Svitávka, which are also suitable for students to watch.

There are two representative Löw-Beer villas in Svitávka, where the family lived for some time. The large Löw-Beer Villa has an almost château-like appearance with Baroque and Classicist elements. Events are also part of the cultural scene: the Svitávecký jarmark 2025 featured live music and a cultural programme, as well as a fire show in the evening. The 20th Svitávecký jarmark tradičních řemesel took place on Saturday, 6 September 2025, in Svitávka.

Nature

Svitávka lies in the broad valley of the Svitava, and the landscape belongs to the Malá Haná area. The boundary of the Boskovická brázda tectonic depression runs immediately west of Svitávka. Numerous fossils can be found at several shale outcrops on the eastern slope of Hradisko, including the rare fossil of a Permian arachnid.

At the summit of Hradisko, the visible foundations of a medieval watchtower and the remains of a chapel have been preserved. On the walking trail to Hradisko, information panel no. 4 provides information about the geology of Hradisko and the morphology of the surrounding area.
