Bořitov: Hotels and accommodations

Bořitov is home to the Kostel svatého Jiří church, whose construction history dates back to the earlier Romanesque period. Depending on the assessment, its construction is dated to the end of the 12th or the beginning of the 13th century.

Culture and history

According to the inscription on the cross, the tower of the Kostel svatého Jiří church bears the year 1305. The Chapel of svatá Anna was added during the restoration of the church in 1480. The church stands on a low hill where a pagan cult site existed before the Christian era, and it is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The group of sculptures depicting Hussite fighters near Bořitov at Velký Chlum was restored in 2023.

Landscape

A wooden observation tower was built on Malý Chlum, also known as Holý Chlum, in 2005. At the southern edge of the Malý Chlum plateau, the remains of the stone wall and a spiral staircase carved into the bedrock are still visible. The settlement of Hradisko on Malý Chlum dates back to the Late Bronze Age.

The observation tower on Malý Chlum offers views in all directions. Admission is free. The observation tower is currently closed due to a damaged structure, but is generally intended for year-round operation.

Bořitov has good road connections via Expressway 43 and Regional Road 377. Cyclists passing through Bořitov can find an information board at the intersection of Loužky and Polní streets.
