Landscape

The Propadání Nová Rasovna is an active, open sinkhole of the Bílá voda in Holštejn. The Holštejnské údolí is filled with Quaternary fluvial sediments and is a geotouristically interesting geotope. The Holštejnská jeskyně is also a geotouristically interesting geotope.

Paths and Access

The marked trail from Holštejn leads west to Šošůvka and south to Ostrov u Macochy, continuing to other parts of the Moravian Karst. The Holštejnské údolí is accessible without restrictions; access by car is possible up to 250 m away. The Holštejnská jeskyně is accessible without restrictions; access by car is possible up to 250 m away.

The excursion route through the Moravian Karst passes through the climbing areas of Holštejn; from Holštejn, it continues along the river to Baldovec. In the vicinity of Holštejn is the abandoned Malá Dohoda wall quarry, approximately 1 km southwest of the village on the Holštejn–Sloup road.

History

Holštejn Castle was founded in the 13th century by Hartman of Ceblovice; its first documented written mention dates from 1268. The marked hiking trail passes by the remains of Holštejn Castle. In earlier times, the Lidomorna Cave was used as a prison or, more precisely, a starvation dungeon.

Climbing

Climbing at the Holštejnská jeskyně is permitted year-round; descent is by rappelling. At the V Buči climbing sector, climbing is permitted from July 1 to December 31; descent is by rappelling. At the Vaňousovy díry climbing sector, climbing is permitted year-round; descent is by rappelling.
