History and Village Character

Lhota u Lysic was established as a circular village at the end of the road from Lysice. The wooden log houses were gradually arranged in a horseshoe shape, as is characteristic of this type of village. The village square is considered the medieval and modern center of Lhota u Lysic; a small bell tower stands on the former village square.

The pilgrimage festival in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is celebrated on August 15. A marble cross was erected beside the chapel in 1938 and restored in 1996 and 2011. The wayside cross at the intersection in Lhota u Lysic bears an inscription with the year 1851. The cross at U Jonášových was erected in 1874 and most recently restored in 2011.

Nature and Location

Lhota u Lysic is located in Lysicko Nature Park and is surrounded by forests. The Žižkův stůl nature monument lies southwest of Lhota u Lysic within its cadastral area. It is a geomorphologically significant site and an example of periglacial landforms. The nature monument includes 23 hectares of natural deciduous forest with lush herbaceous undergrowth.
