History and Townscape

The first written record of the existence of the village of Krásensko dates from 1348; at that time, the German name Schönfeld was used. Written sources from around 100 years later already refer to the settlement by the Czech name Krásné Pole.

The gravestone of Kašpar Lukavecký is now located at the side entrance of the church. Saint Lawrence is the patron saint of Krásensko and its church.

The town's craft history has also been documented: In the first half of the 20th century, mother-of-pearl button production expanded considerably in Krásensko. In the 1980s and 1990s, 90 % of Krásensko's inhabitants were weavers. Since 2002, Rychta has operated in the historic building of a former manorial farmyard and is a workplace of the South Moravian Lipka environmental education organisation.

Landscape

Kojál Hill is the defining elevation of Krásensko; a television transmitter stands on it.

Geographical Setting

Krásensko lies at the meeting point of three districts – Vyškov (20 km), Blansko (19 km) and Prostějov (33 km) – and two regions, Jihomoravský and Olomoucký.

Things to Do

Every year, on the last Sunday in August, a pilgrimage takes place from Krásensko to Sloup.

Getting There

On weekdays, around 14 connections operate in both directions from Krásensko to Vyškov and Blansko; connections to Brno are available there. On weekends, bike buses to Krásensko can be used; they also carry bicycles.
