Hvězdlice: Hotels and accommodations

In Hvězdlice, historical landmarks and landscape features come together. The medieval and early modern center of Nové Hvězdlice on the right bank of the Hvězdlička stream is an archaeological area classified as UAN II. Archaeological finds have been documented in this area or are expected based on reasonable assumptions.

Culture and history

The fortress on Kalvárie Hill, formerly called Holá Manda, was built approximately in the second half of the 13th century under the Lords of Deblín. In 1411, it was mentioned as ruined or abandoned.

The Church of St. James the Greater and St. Matthew in Nové Hvězdlice is a late Baroque church built between 1770 and 1773. It was constructed according to a design by the Moravian architect and builder František Antonín Grimm.

A memorial to the fallen soldiers who died in the First World War, dating from 1922, stands in the village square. It is made of white marble and is topped by a bronze bust of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.

At the edge of the Oulehle forest in the Hvězdlice municipality, a boundary stone bears an engraved chalice, the year 1598, and the inscription “Sylvestr Stigler parochus”. It documents a dispute between the parish and the Augustinian Monastery of St. Thomas in Brno over the parish forest.

Cycling and hiking trails run through the Hvězdlice municipality. A cycling route from Nové Hvězdlice via Staré Hvězdlice to Pavlovice has also been proposed.
