Culture and history
Concerts of classical music take place in the local church in Lužice. In 1932, the academic painter Köhler decorated the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Lužice with paintings of the church’s patron saints, Cyril and Methodius, as well as Saint Martin and Saint Wenceslas.
The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in 1825 on the site of an earlier, dilapidated chapel. In autumn 2009, it was moved to its present location on Ploštiny Street. Around the chapel are sculptures depicting nativity scenes, created by students of art colleges under the direction of curator and academic sculptor Lída Pecková at the “Dřevo, kámen – Lužice” symposia in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
