Milonice combines a long local history with protected landscapes and a regional setting full of striking mountains, castles, and ruins. Those wishing to book a hotel here will first find a concise overview of the historical and landscape features.

History and Culture

Milonice is first mentioned in documents from 1349. The present-day appearance of the village is shaped in particular by the Church of St. Peter and Paul. It was built from 1805 to 1807 in place of an older church that stood in what is now the parish garden, and was consecrated in 1810. The new building was constructed at the request of Alois Josef Count of Kolowrat after he had judged the former church to be too small for the needs of the parish during a general visitation in 1803.

The wider regional surroundings also offer historical destinations: Hrad Buchlov is a castle, while Hrádek and Kuchlov have been preserved as ruins. Milotice Chateau Park is also located in this area.

Cycling

The marked cycle route 5029 runs along the excursion route from Nesovice railway station towards Vyškov through Milonice. Behind the village, the route branches off towards Uhřice.

Nature and Landscape

The protected area of Černecký and Milonický hájek comprises semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous substrates, Pannonian oak-hornbeam forests, and Eurosiberian steppe oak forests.

Several mountains are located around Milonice: Hradisko, Radlovec, Rozštípená skála, and Urban. The wider regional surroundings complement this landscape with Hrad Buchlov Castle and the ruins of Hrádek and Kuchlov.

Other places to explore: Hodějice, Nemojany, Podomí, Ježkovice, Studnice, Holubice, Kobeřice U Brna, Letonice.
