Našiměřice: Hotels and Accommodation
In Našiměřice, you can book a hotel, and the Church of Saint Giles stands there: this important Gothic sacred building was constructed in the second quarter of the 14th century and features authentically preserved architectural elements. The complex, with its cemetery, surrounding wall and gate, is located in the southern part of Našiměřice. In 1730, extensive structural changes were made to the church, including the reconstruction of the sacristy and the installation of a spiral staircase to the bell tower.
Culture and History
The cemetery next to the Church of Saint Giles has been in use from the Middle Ages to the present day. The medieval and modern-era centre of Našiměřice has also been designated as an area with archaeological finds. The completely vanished Našiměřice fortress is another part of the locality’s earlier history. It probably originated between 1236 and 1244 under Vlk of Našiměřice; only a faint relief remnant of the core survives in the form of a small elevation.
A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on a lawn on the eastern side of the village square. The sacred sculpture, carved from limestone in the mid-18th century, is considered an important monument of the municipality and evidence of the high-quality sculpture of South Moravia.
Landscape
Našiměřice lies in a depression of the extensive, fertile Dyje–Svratka Valley at an altitude of 217 m above sea level.
