Nechvalín: Hotels and Accommodation

Nechvalín is first mentioned in a forged founding charter of Vizovice Monastery dated 1261. The castle site of the former Nechvalín knightly stronghold is listed as an immovable cultural monument. The former stronghold was probably built as early as the first half of the 14th century.

Four iron swords, seven axes, six spears, spurs, as well as jewellery and vessels were found at the Nechvalín burial ground. The grave finds suggest that Nechvalín was one of the important Great Moravian strongholds.

The Chapel of Saint Catherine in Nechvalín was completed on 18 October 1890. On 15 August 1891, it was consecrated together with the cross standing beside it. A priest working in Lovčice, P. Stanislav Kovář, travels to the Chapel of Saint Catherine in Nechvalín to celebrate services there.

The preserved local semi-Haná folk costumes of Nechvalín are worn especially during the Kateřinské hody festival, which takes place at the end of November.

Nechvalín has vineyard areas known as “Borový čtvrtě”, “Kučky” and “Lovecký”. The vineyards of Nechvalín lie on south- and west-facing slopes. The Kyjov Wine Trail also passes through Nechvalín.
