Find a hotel while discovering a place in a hilly, forested landscape: Olšany lies on the southern edge of the Drahanská vrchovina highlands at an elevation of around 420 metres and is surrounded by extensive forests.

Nature and Trails

Olšany’s location offers countless opportunities for peaceful walks, cycling tours and horse rides; in winter, cross-country skiing is also possible.

The “Studánková naučná stezka” educational trail connects several springs along the route between Olšany and Vítovice via Červený vrch. It has nine stops with information boards, begins in Olšany’s village square and ends at a pond in Rousínov-Vítovice.

Getting Around

The access road from Habrovany ends in Olšany; beyond the village, only forest roads continue. A route from the local cycling network runs through the village, connecting to regional cycling route B (Hradec Králové–Břeclav), which passes through Slavkov, and then to the long-distance “Jantarová stezka” cycle route. Olšany is also connected to the surrounding area by bus services.

Culture

The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist in Olšany was built in 1886. In the summer of 1992, the film “Dědictví aneb Kurvahošigutntág,” starring Bolek Polívka, was filmed here.

Olšany Cultural Centre has a cultural hall with a stage for balls, theatre performances, local celebrations and tastings. Small and larger, almost regular stone spheres are still visible in the wall of Olšany’s local quarry.
