Vážany: Hotels and Accommodation

At the south-western edge of Vážany stands the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (“Kostel Zvěstování Panny Marie”), a small central-plan building with a Greek-cross floor plan. Culture

The central space of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (“Kostel Zvěstování Panny Marie”) is vaulted with a dome. The arms of the cross have barrel vaults with intersecting triangular vault cells. The sacristy contains a historically valuable painting of the Last Supper on wood. In front of the church stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1925.

Above the gate of the aristocratic estate still preserved in Vážany is a coat of arms bearing the year 1685. Archaeological excavations on Vejštice Hill south of Vážany uncovered stone tools, five so-called Bell Beakers, two bowls and three small jugs.

In the surroundings of Vážany are the monument “Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války”, the church “Kaple sv. Anny”, the church “Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla” and the church “Kaple Božského srdce”.

Nature

Devonian limestone from the Moravian Karst extends as far as Vážany. The mountains Skalky, Skatulec, Skály and Bučí are also located in the surroundings of Vážany.

Events and Sport

Dětský den is a traditional event held mainly for children at Hasičský dům Vážany. The tennis court in Vážany is used by the general public and is also used for volleyball and nohejbal.
