Šebrov-Kateřina: Hotels and Accommodation

The St Catherine Church was built in the 15th century on a rocky promontory near Šebrov in the late Rustic Gothic style. It is traditionally dated to 1469; at the same time, it is a three-nave structure.

Culture

In the front left section of the nave, a large tombstone is said to seal the entrance to a crypt beneath the church. The St Catherine Church can be reached by IDS-JMK bus line 152 via the Sv. Kateřina stop.

Landscape

Šebrov lies in a lower-lying depression at the confluence of streams in hilly terrain. Historically, the Šebrovka was a border stream that divided Šebrov between two estates. To the north, the Vranovské lesy border the built-up areas of Šebrov-Kateřina.

The local Nezbedka biocentre encompasses the Šebrovka Valley with meadows and adjacent woodland. The local Na Šebrovce biocentre encompasses woodland with a higher proportion of naturally occurring species.

On the Way

The cycling route known as “cyklotrasa P. Bezruče” runs through the Šebrov-Kateřina administrative area in a north–south direction. In the Šebrov-Kateřina area, it follows service roads through woodland and along the Šebrovka River.

From the centre of Šebrov-Kateřina, a 1.2 km green-marked trail leads to a viewpoint near Duchova rozhledna. In the vicinity of Duchova rozhledna, there is a rest area with seating and a fire pit. Also in the vicinity, Duchova rozhledna offers views southwards of wooded hills and the karst landscape of the Moravian Karst.

The Pivní stezka Petra Bezruče runs along the route Vranov u Brna – Šebrov – vrch Jedle.

Local Tradition

During the Masopust procession in Svatá Kateřina, traditional Koblížky and other small dishes are offered at the houses.
