At Vrbovecké vinobraní 2025, the end of the grape harvest was celebrated on the last Saturday in October in the U kapličky vineyard, along this row of cellars, and in the open cellars.
Culture and History
The Chapel of Saint Bartholomew was built in 2022. A short walk outside Vrbovec leads to it. A festival takes place in its immediate vicinity in the second half of August, around the feast day of Saint Bartholomew, and includes the Zarážení hory ceremony.
The Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist has an old Romanesque predecessor. After a fire in 1727, it was rebuilt from 1747 onwards and consecrated on 27 June 1767. It has three bells from the 17th and 18th centuries; the oldest dates from 1626.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Help in Ječmeniště, in the cadastral territory of Vrbovec, is the last surviving monument of a vanished wine-growing village in the South Moravian border region.
Nature
Vrbovecký rybník is the most important wetland in the Znojmo area. It is also a regionally and supra-regionally important locality for the fire-bellied toad.
