Vysočany is surrounded by the wooded hills of the Drahanská vrchovina. The European long-distance cycling route EuroVelo 9 Baltic–Adriatic runs through the village.

Nature and Trails

The forests around Vysočany are crisscrossed by a network of forest paths suitable for walks. Vysočany is also home to Panská skála, a rock formation. In addition, there are facilities for cycling tourism, including several information boards and maps, as well as shelters and seating areas directly connected to hiking and cycling routes.

The Polačka pond is suitable for swimming.

Culture and History

Construction of the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius began on June 2, 1864, and the church was consecrated on November 23, 1873.

The history of Housko includes the former Church of the Virgin Mary. It was probably destroyed during the wars of the 15th century; it had already been burned down by 1493 and was mentioned as abandoned in 1564. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Housko was consecrated on September 4, 1921. Since 1921, there has been an annual tradition of parishioners gathering at the chapel in Housko around the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary for Holy Mass, giving thanks for the community and praying for its future. The Vysočany pilgrimage takes place in early July.

Bus 232 takes you from Blansko to the Vysočany bus stop. The Vysočany bus stop is 170 metres from the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
