Petschau: Hotels and Accommodations
Petschau can be explored through specific places and activities: Bečov Castle, a 12-hectare botanical garden, several specialized museums, and educational and hiking trails give the town a multifaceted profile.
Culture
The newly renovated Bečov Castle was opened to the public for the first time in 1996. It features an exhibition of Gothic art from West Bohemia and two tours: one is dedicated to the Romanesque Reliquary of Saint Maurus, while the other focuses on the Baroque castle interiors with a library, chapel, and salons. The Reliquary of Saint Maurus is displayed in the complex of Bečov Castle and Chateau.
The Museum of Historical Motorcycles displays more than 50 historic motorcycles, as well as historic bicycles and motorcycle engines. The upper floor also houses an exhibition of wooden toys, family puppet theaters, and marionettes. The Museum of Ironing and Washing features exhibitions of piggy banks, as well as banknotes and coins.
Another collection is offered by the Cup Museum in Bečov, with more than 4,600 cups. It also displays wood carvings, retro objects, and historic photographs of Bečov nad Teplou. In front of the town hall stands a column with a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, erected in 1680.
Nature
The Bečov Botanical Garden covers 12 hectares. It includes 5 hectares of intensive exhibition areas, 1.5 hectares of water areas, 1.5 hectares of orchard, and 4 hectares of natural areas. More than 10,000 plant species are cultivated in the garden. The botanical garden also includes the first Czech bioferrata. It offers routes of varying difficulty, including routes suitable for children. Visitors can rent boats on Korunní Pond.
The Bečov area is part of the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. The Teplá Valley between Bečov and Mnichov is a nature reserve.
