Ceská Kamenice: Hotels and Accommodation

Česká Kamenice combines a protected historic town centre with striking basalt formations and paths through the Rabštejnské Valley. The historic town centre of Česká Kamenice was declared an urban conservation area in 1992. This area contains a total of 34 immovable cultural monuments.

Culture

The three-nave Gothic interior structure of the Kostel sv. Jakuba Staršího church combines Rococo, Renaissance and Neoclassical elements. During a guided tour, you can climb the 46-metre-high church tower and reach the balcony inside.

The round central building of the Poutní kaple Narození Panny Marie pilgrimage chapel is an important example of Baroque architecture. The chapel offers guided tours explaining the history and significance of the pilgrimage site; during the tour, you can visit the interior of the central building and the ambulatory with four corner chapels.

The family crypt of the Preidl family, built in 1868, is considered a valuable example of historicist funerary architecture. The glass astronomical clock Skleněný orloj in Česká Kamenice provides a distinctive feature: it is set in motion every day on the hour from 08:00 to 21:00.

Nature

The Via Ferrata Uchem Jehly is a grade C via ferrata route leading to the summit of the Jehla viewpoint. The summit of this highest viewpoint above the town consists of pointed basalt columns and lies at an elevation of 487 metres.

Mlýnky–Brand is less than one kilometre from Náměstí, is freely accessible year-round and features small houses as well as interactive water elements. The path there is also suitable for prams and ride-on vehicles.

Things to Do

Both the Okruh Vyhlídky–Brand circuit trail and the first stage of the Výroční stezka I. etapa Česká Kamenice–Prácheň–Češka trail begin at Náměstí Míru in the centre of Česká Kamenice. The circuit follows the yellow trail markings and is considered suitable for families with children and older visitors.

The surroundings in the Rabštejnské Valley are suitable for walking, cycling and rollerblading. The tunnels known as Werk C house a publicly accessible exhibition on the history of the Rabštejnské Valley. A railway line, used primarily for passenger traffic, still runs through the valley; the historic Sklářská lokálka to Kamenický Šenov also runs there.
