Kamýk: Hotels and Accommodation

The ruins of Kamýk Castle date back to the early 14th century. The castle’s main residential and defensive structure stood on a basalt rock.

Culture and History

Less than 1 km northeast of Kamýk lies the pilgrimage chapel of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist. The chapel complex, with a fragment of the exterior pulpit, is listed as a cultural monument in the cadastral area of Kamýk u Litoměřic. The area around Kamýk is also home to Střekov Castle, the memorial site of the Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto, Hrádek Castle ruins, and the ruins of Oltářík Castle.

The access route to Kamýk Castle from Kamýk is not signposted. There is also the blue-marked “Golden Trail through the Land of Castles” hiking trail.

Nature and Landscape

Plešivec is a protected natural monument with open scree slopes on its southern and northern sides. Permanent ice holes and ventaroles can be found there, created by air circulation in the scree.

The hills of Hradiště u Hlinné, Deblík and Varhošť are located in the vicinity of Kamýk. Lovoš Hill is also situated near Kamýk.

Hiking and Cycling

The sixth stage of the Výroční stezka trail passes through Kamýk, Porta Bohemica, Velké Žernoseky, Radobýl and Litoměřice. The fifth stage runs via Litýš, Starý Mlýnec, Třebušín, Staňkovice, Ovčárna, Babiny I, Hlinná and Kamýk and is approximately 24 km long.

Cycle Route 3057 runs via Litoměřice, Libochovany, Kamýk, Hlinná, Babiny I, Ovčárna, Staňkovice, Myštice, Ploskovice and Žitenice, returning to Litoměřice. It leads from the Elbe into the hills of the Central Bohemian Uplands and climbs to over 560 metres above sea level.
