Rybniště – Nature, Water and Culture
Rybniště lies in the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area. Velký rybník covers 46 hectares and is the largest pond in the Děčín District. As a nature reserve, it includes wetlands along the shore and protected plants. Large lime trees and other mature deciduous trees stand on the preserved dam of the former pond in the center of Rybniště. Školní rybník near Rybniště is one of the ponds in the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area.
Nature and Water
An educational trail leads from the cemetery to the dam of Velký rybník. In the vicinity of Rybniště lies the 586-meter-high Široký vrch, also known as Karlova výšina, with a viewpoint; from Rybniště, it can be reached via the red-marked trail. Trails and Transport
Important regional cycling routes pass through Rybniště and connect to cycling routes in the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland area. Thanks to good train and bus connections, Rybniště is a starting point for trips to the neighboring České Švýcarsko National Park and the Lužické hory. At Školní rybník, recreational fishing is possible every year from April to November after purchasing a fishing permit. Activities can be reserved at the multifunctional sports field in Rybniště. In winter, cross-country ski tracks are groomed in Rybniště when there is sufficient snow; these include several local routes and, where applicable, the Krásná Lípa loops at Tůň or on Kamenná Horka. Culture and Townscape
The Three Kings Chapel in the Na sedle district dates from 1775 and stands near the European watershed. St. Joseph's Church in Rybniště is an Art Nouveau building by Antonín Möller from Varnsdorf and was built between 1909 and 1911. St. Joseph's Church is considered the youngest church in the region. Traditional timber houses with half-timbered structures in one- and two-story designs have been preserved in Rybniště. The third Rybnišťský masopust took place on February 8, 2025; the municipality describes it as a traditional festival and wishes to continue maintaining it.
