The Ploučnice Cycle Route No. 15 leads from Soutěsky through Malá Veleň to Benešov nad Ploučnicí. A 43-kilometre cycling tour leads from Děčín via Malá Veleň, Benešov nad Ploučnicí, Starý Šachov, Dolní Police and Horní Police, and then back again.
Culture and History
The present-day Church of St. Anne in Jedlka was rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century and partially remodelled in the Baroque style between 1716 and 1723. It is listed in the 2013 Register of Cultural Monuments for Malá Veleň. The rural homestead at Malá Veleň No. 23 is also listed in the 2013 Register of Cultural Monuments.
The Church of St. Anne can be visited by prior arrangement using the telephone number displayed at the church. Jedlka is also home to the larger-than-life sandstone statue of St. Anne from 1785, standing on a moulded prismatic pedestal.
The historic site of Hirniskretzschen is located in the vicinity of Malá Veleň. In the wider surrounding region are Střekov Castle, Hohnstein Castle and the historic site “Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto”.
Landscape
Dobrná Mountain and Netterskoppe Mountain are located in the immediate vicinity of Malá Veleň. The mountains of Vrabinec and Kozí vrch are also located in the surrounding area.
The Havraní kameny educational trail leads to the village of Jedlka, into the forest behind the Church of St. Anne, and uphill over a scree field beneath an approximately 100-metre-long rock formation called Havraní kameny.
