Dolní Rožínka: Hotels and Accommodation
Dolní Rožínka combines historic sites with several exhibitions. The Strašidelný zámek Draxmoor attraction is housed in a former distillery whose history dates back to the 17th century. During a visit to Draxmoor, visitors pass through three floors of the exhibition. The haunted elevator takes visitors to an underground exhibition area, and the tour begins with a short film in the oldest still-functioning 3D cinema.
Culture
The predecessor fortress of Dolní Rožínka Chateau was first mentioned in 1459. At the end of the 16th century, the Pernštejns converted the fortress into a Renaissance chateau.
Landscape
East of Dolní Rožínka lies Templ Forest Park, founded by Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský at the end of the 18th century. It preserves a pink Neoclassical chapel with the tomb of Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský and an Egyptian obelisk in the Empire style. The forest park also includes an English bath.
The Jívina ruin is located on a hill above the town. The chapel ruin was built by Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský between 1781 and 1789. It may have been built as a romantic backdrop for hunting excursions by the nobility from the chateau and their guests, held to mark the ceremonial end of a hunt.
Experiences
In Dolní Rožínka, Svět skřítků a víl opens every year during the school holidays and includes a quiz game. The exhibition leads through meadows with fairies, a forest, and the homes of woodland and village goblins. At the Dolní Rožínka cultural center, Svět skřítků a víl displays more than 1,500 self-designed figures.
