Nature

Javorek is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The mountains of Librův Kopec, Na jedli, Kočíko and Devět Skal are situated around the village. In the vicinity of Javorek, Prosička comprises two massive rock blocks measuring up to 55 m in length and 17 m in height, as well as a series of lower, weathered rock outcrops and the remains of a rock wall formed by the retreat of frost cliffs. Štarkov is also located nearby, a geomorphologically significant rock formation with the remains of a castle.

Hiking

A blue-marked hiking trail passes through Javorek. The protected natural monument of Prosička is located in the vicinity of Javorek; the blue hiking trail from Javorek to Jimramov leads to a viewpoint overlooking the Fryšávka valley.

History

The first documented mention of Javorek dates from 1364. In 1372, a hereditary free rychtář estate, also known as a coat-of-arms rychtář estate, was established here.

Architectural Heritage

Numerous log and masonry buildings have been preserved in Javorek, documenting the region’s traditional folk architecture. The former Rychta building No. 22, with its mansard roof, is among Javorek’s most valuable historic buildings. The historic Rychta building, house No. 22, has survived to this day and is one of the few comparable rural buildings in the country. In addition, Javorek retains a valuable group of cottages and farmsteads from the 18th and 19th centuries that are now protected as monuments.

On the village square by a pond stands a stone with a sculpture of Jan Hus by Julius Pelikán dating from 1920. The Javorek bell tower is a valuable example of traditional folk architecture and the craftsmanship of local artisans. In the 19th century, flax from Javorek was known throughout the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
